Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return Itinerary
Collapse AllThe first day of your Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. You will land at Tribhuvan International Airport and meet our personnel. They will take you to your hotel in a private vehicle and help you check in.
After checking in, you can take a breather in your hotel after a long flight or head out sightseeing in the wonderful Kathmandu valley. Shortly after noon or evening, you will meet with our guide.
You can ask any question or query regarding Annapurna Base Camp, and he will also take care of any missing equipment you need. Overnight stay in Kathmandu hotel.
On the second day of your trek, today you will head towards Pokhara via Tourist Bus to start your ABC Trek via Helicopter Return. You will drive beside the stunning Marshyangdi and Trishuli rivers and experience majestic green rocky mountains, waterfalls, and springs accompanying you.
After 7-9 hours of drive, you will reach Pokhara via bus but it will only take up to 25 minutes via flight. Pokhara is a beautiful valley popular for many beautiful lakes like Fewa, Rupa, and Begnas.
We’ll be stopping at a lodge near the lakeside, where you can check in and take a break for a while. In the evening, you can explore the beautiful lakeside area before returning to your lodge. Overnight stay at Pokhara Hotel.
We will drive towards Syomrong from Pokhara after having breakfast. It takes from 2.5 to 3 hours via jeep to reach Syomrong. Before reaching Syomrong, we will briefly stop at Birethati. This is the entry point of the Annapurna Conservation Area, where you must show some important permits. We will check into the area and drive for one hour until we reach Syomrong.
Now, the genuine hiking begins as you make your way towards Chomrong, which we will reach via Jhinu Danda. To reach Jhinu Danda, we will trek beside the Modi river bank and cross its suspension bridge, the second-longest suspension bridge of the trek. As you reach Jhinu Danda, which lies at an altitude of 1780m, you will see breathtaking views of various mountains like Fishtail, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South.
After taking a moment in Jhinu Danda, you will start trekking towards Choromng. It is a small but beautiful village inhabited by local Gurungs. They have their own culture, traditions, and rituals but welcome tourists and local people from different places.
The fourth day of your Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return starts with breakfast in Chhomrong. Today’s trek becomes a little strenuous as you climb the stone stairs for some time. These stairs will directly take you to Chhomrong Khola, where you will cross a wooden suspension bridge.
Despite the difficult trek, the surrounding area and nature are optimal for trekking. You will keep heading forward until you reach Siruwa. Now, just a few steps ahead, you will reach a place called Bamboo, a village in the middle of the woods. You can stay overnight at the Bamboo teahouse.
After breakfast, you will move forward from Bamboo early in the morning. After a steep but short flat descent, you will arrive at the bottom of the gorge known as Dovan. During this time, the trek will be quiet as loud noises are prohibited due to nearby temple areas.
On the road ahead, we will witness the trek’s first waterfall and then pass by rhododendron forests. As you continue, you will come across Hinku Cave. The white and cold glacial rivers and streams become visible as the altitude increases.
The route descends and ascends until you reach today’s destination, Deurali. From an altitude of 3200 m, you can take stunning photographs of the valley below. Overnight stay in a lodge at Deurali.
We’ll reach Annapurna Base Camp today, a special day on your Annapurna Base Camp Heli Return Trek. After a quick breakfast in Deurali, you’ll begin trekking early in the morning. Before reaching Annapurna Base Camp, you will ascend towards Macchapucchre Base Camp. Macchapuchhre Base Camp, or Fishtail Base Camp, lies at 3700m, so you still have some altitude to climb before reaching Annapurna Base Camp.
From Macchapucchre Base Camp, soak in the majestic views of many mountains, including Hiunchuli, Macchapucchre, Annapurna, and Fishtail. As you ascend the ABC, the trek becomes larger but less greener. During your climb, you must be aware of the risk of avalanches, which experts and veterans will warn you about. As you approach your destination, you’ll be able to enjoy stunning views of the mountains even more clearly and closer in sight.
After a two-hour trek from MBC, you’ll arrive at Annapurna Base Camp at 4130m. The stunning mountain views are unparalleled here. Small lodges in the area offer overnight accommodation.
After a successful Annapurna Base Camp Trek excursion, we will head back to Pokhara today. However, this is not just a normal trek back to the valley but you will experience one of the beautiful helicopter rides in Nepal. You will get a magnificent bird’s eye view of some of Nepal’s tallest mountain ranges.
This is the perfect way of ending the difficult but motivating Annapurna Base Camp Trek, as this heli ride brings that extra WOW factor. After experiencing such a majestic heli ride back to Pokhara,, you will take a domestic flight back to Kathmandu. We will pick you up again from the domestic airport and take you to your hotel for your overnight stay.

There are various menus in lower altitudes city areas like Kathmandu and Pokhara. You can even taste some Western cuisines like Momos, Pizzas, Burgers, Macaroni, Spaghetti, and other different types of Chinese, Japanese, Thai, French, and Continental dishes.
For breakfast, you can choose from different menus, such as Fresh Toast, Chapati, Biscuits, and Corn Flakes. These foods are nutritious and full of carbohydrates and protein. We recommend that you avoid alcohol or caffeinated products to prevent dehydration, which is the major cause of Altitude Sickness.
Regarding Accommodation, you will briefly stay at lodges and three-star hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, during your trek, your primary place of stay will be in teahouses.
They are basic lodges or homestays that provide simple lunch facilities and rooms for overnight stays. You will have to adjust to a shared room and toilets. In some teahouses, you might get Western-style toilets, but many have squatting toilets.

Trek Difficulty
Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return is considered to be a moderate to strenuous trek in Nepal. This trek might be moderately difficult for experienced and veteran trekkers in Nepal, but if you are a beginner, it can cause major challenges to anyone.
The distance and duration of the trek are very challenging. You have to cover a lot of distance by trekking seven to eight hours a day. The trails are not easy-pitched roads instead, you have to climb steep hills and trek along curvature dusty trails and rocks. With some fine visuals of rhododendrons and pine forests from time to time, the trek becomes worth it.
Hence, you must be physically fit and mentally able to fully enjoy and complete this trek. Altitude sickness is another factor that increases your trek difficulty.
As your trek takes place above the altitude of 4000m, the chances of the sickness are quite high. Hence, do not rush towards higher altitudes and gradually ascend and descend your trails. Also always make sure to keep your body hydrated and warm all the time.
