Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek Itinerary
Collapse AllTo begin your trek, you will first fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. The whole flight takes around 35 minutes. You will land at Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla after the scenic flight. Your trek journey will begin from here onwards.
The trail is gentle and easy. It starts from Kani (ceremonial gatehouse) and starts steeply descending. Then, the path levels as you reach Kyangma village. You will walk with Dudh Koshi River at sight. Similarly, you will have to cross the suspension bridges and pass by villages like Cheplung, Ghat, and Chhuthawa.
There are mani walls, chortens, and prayer wheels along the trail. You will finally reach Phakding (2610 meters) where you will stay for the night. The whole trek duration is around 3 hours.
From Phakding, you will have to cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Similarly, you will pass through several villages like Toc-Toc, Bhenkar, and Monjoj before arriving at the Sagarmatha National Park entrance.
The trail begins to ascend and gets steep as you reach Namche Bazaar (3440 meters). The trek duration from Phakding to Namche Bazaar takes around 6 to 7 hours. Namche Bazaar is an important acclimatization stop for Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek. It is a picturesque village and has facilities like lodges including luxury lodges, ATMs, restaurants, and banks.
During the acclimatization day, you will explore Namche Bazaar. It is important to stay active. It allows your body to adapt to the changing elevations and surroundings. Additionally, you can get gorgeous mountain views from the village.

The following day, you will cross the Dudh Koshi River and begin climbing uphill. After around three and a half hour walk from Pangboche, you will reach the Ama Dablam Base Camp (4600 meters). You will leave Pangboche and head back to Namche Bazaar. In comparison to climbing uphill, it is easier to descend. You will once again pass by Tengboche and then Phunkithanga. Then after 6 to 7 hours of trekking, you will reach Namche Bazaar.
The trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla is mostly a downhill trek with a few straight paths. You will leave behind the Sagarmatha National Park and reach Lukla. The trek duration from Namche to Lukla takes around 7 hours. You will stop at Lukla for a night.
On the final day, you will take a flight back to Kathmandu. You can get a glimpse of the mountains one last time during your flight.

Visa
