I’ve just completed a trip to Gokyo Lakes with Hillary Step Treks, and am happily reflecting on what an amazing experience it was. From the start, Hari guided us with itineraries, packing lists, and other ways to make the hike a success. We chose to visit in the off-season; December brings colder weather, but crisp blue sky days and uncrowded trails made it worthwhile!
The Gokyo Lakes trek is magnificent- once you reach Gokyo, you have two days of panoramic views of Everest and surrounding peaks. The scenery throughout the walk is breathtaking, as you ascend and descend through valleys buttressed by imposing mountains.
Our porter, Bikas, was instrumental in helping transport our gear, and keeping us amply hydrated. Hari kept us on track with his local wisdom and a great sense of humor, which are both necessities in the Himalayas.

Doing the trek with Hari was a great experience as he ensured that it was tailored to our different fitness levels. He always picked the best guesthouses and asked for feedback to ensure they had a good stay (and will change the guesthouses that we’re not up to standard in the future). Hari made the trek fun and he shared all his knowledge along the way (we had lots of questions!). Hari was very quick to communicate via email and WA and also adapted to changes quickly (as one of us missed our flight and he changed the itinerary for us at the last minute). I would highly recommend Hari and his company( Hillary Step Treks) for any treks you plan in Nepal: you will be in good hands!!

We went in a private group of 9 for ABC trek in mid-May 2024. Our tour was guided by Harry and an assistant guide, with 5 other porters during the 8-day trek. The team of guides and porters are extremely experience, reliable and fun to be around. Harry was an awesome guy - he led the team with comfortable pace to ensure that we acclimatised properly. All in all, highly recommended the tour.

They organized a trek to Pikey Peak for me on short notice, and everything—from logistics to lodging to guiding—was handled flawlessly. The team was responsive, attentive, and genuinely committed to making the trip special. Hari, the manager, was responsive at all hours of day, took into account all my requests and even went out of his way to pick me up at the airport. My guide, Ramesh was knowledgeable, warm, and made the journey both safe and unforgettable. Both he and Bisal, the porter, took wonderful care of me, including figuring out how to retrieve my phone when I left it behind in a lodge.
